The Global Communications Team leads the storytelling function at VMware. We are a team of around 40 communications professionals spanning public relations, industry analyst relations, integrated storytelling and executive and employee communications. It’s a fast paced, dynamic and exciting environment. VMware is looking for a skilled Internal Communications Editor to help shape our employee voice and lead our internal editorial content management, including partnering with team members leading communications in region and within business units. We’re looking for someone who is energetic, a passionate employee advocate and unafraid to try new things. You are a creative and well-organized team player that can easily make connections with a variety of internal stakeholders as you help VMware’s 20,000+ employees to feel informed, engaged and connected.
As part of the Integrated Storytelling team, you will report to the Global Communications Managing Editor.
Capture and promote the unique VMware “employee voice” that represents our strong culture and values and leads to increased sense of community, pride and belonging across our employee population
Help execute the digital roadmap for employee engagement, including managing content for VMware’s intranet portal, mobile/social applications and digital signage.
Lead the internal communications editorial council and calendar to ensure a clear content management process that supports top business priorities and our corporate narrative.
Partner closely with the Global Comms Managing Editor, Global Employee Comms team and other content developers across the company to filter and prioritize content submissions; manage content packaging and visual imagery; oversee content governance and positioning.
Partner with the Senior Manager of Channels to lead the internal digital metrics program, designed to measure impact and employee / manager engagement. Refine approach based on the results.
Participate in developing the long-term plan for evolving and innovating existing internal communication channels.
Essential to your success in this role:
Exceptional writing and editing skills with a creative flare
Experienced storyteller with the ability to bring employment brand and culture to life
Ability to influence and build support for new ideas and programs
Ingenuity in producing fun, engaging multi-media content with limited resources
Familiarity with communication and collaboration tools and platforms, including Sharepoint
Self-starter; ability to work independently
Extremely organized with a bias for execution, even if it’s outside of current job scope
Ability to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Positive, creative, fun and eager to jump in and collaborate with amazing colleagues
Desired: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or other related field; Master’s will be deemed an advantage.
