THE OPPORTUNITY

The Early Childhood Magazine Group is seeking a talented Associate Editor (AE) to join our dynamic team who will create developmentally appropriate materials that inspire young children. The AE will assist on all aspects My Big World magazine, researching issues and creating activities and lesson plans. Contribute to SLP’s Rookie Toddler series and the new kindergarten Side-by-Side series. The ideal candidate will have a combination background in early childhood education, writing and editing.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Responsibilities/Primary Activities:

Magazine and SLP Editorial

  • Write for Rookie Toddler and Side-by-Side series

  • Research issue and poster topics for MBW and LFO

  • Write activity pages and online games for MBW and LFO

  • Write lesson plans

  • Correlate TX, CCSS, VA, FL, IN standards for all articles

Teacher Outreach

  • Set up school visits and classroom Skype sessions

  • Attend conferences and interface with teachers

  • Manage Teacher and Librarian advisor board: • recruit new advisers • set up comp subs through Manufacturing • create and send monthly issue evaluations through Survey Monkey

  • Manage/write drafts of e-newsletters

  • Manage customer service complaints

Social Media

  • Provide marketing with monthly posts including text, image suggestions, and links for FB, Pinterest

  • Post on Twitter twice weekly

  • Work with Corporate Communications to set up blogger reviews of Rookie Toddlers

Administrative

  • Handle administrative tasks as they come up so the Editorial Director and VP can be freed up to do their work.

HOW YOU CAN FIT

  • Masters of Science in Early Childhood and Art Education

  • Teaching experience.

  • Proven ability to write and edit

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with educators
