Job Description

BAE Systems Electronic Systems is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to support the Sector-level Command Media and Process documentation systems based in Nashua, New Hampshire.

POSITION SUMMARY

Develop, maintain, revise, and support information media surrounding technical and process documentation,including operating procedures, maintenance and repair procedures, and sector-level Policies and Procedures.Manage and train operations personnel on documentary issues as required, and must be comfortable leading departmental initiatives. Will provide high-level administrative and publishing control functions to ES Command Media Repository, as well as providing training to new users of the system.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Write and edit descriptive interface and procedural documentation including process and policy documents, user guides, work instructions, technical reports, and other types of technical documentation.

  2. Researches illustration approaches to determine how best to utilize graphics to support written documentation.

  3. Requests creation of new illustrations/graphics or changes to existing graphics/illustrations.

  4. Reviews existing materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content.

  5. Researches and consults with engineers and subject matter experts on systems and equipment to create and revise technical documentation.

  6. Analyzes and interprets technical data to translate information in to technical documentation.

  7. Validates deliverables for accuracy, readability, and usability.

  8. May interface with Document Repository customers on document content and technical issues.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  1. Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience, prefer manufacturing or supply chain experience and process familiarity.

  2. Exceptional written/verbal communication, listening, organizational, interpersonal, research, investigative, and problem-solving skills.

  3. Proven ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise manner.

  4. Ability to work independently (but as a member of a cross-functional team consisting of technical writers, authors, publishers, subject matter experts, and engineers) associated with documentation projects.

  5. Strong knowledge and understanding of manufacturing, supply chain and quality terminology and concepts.

  6. Substantial amounts of concentration and attention to detail to interpret and apply contract requirements to technical documents ensuring the content is accurate and consistent.

  7. High level of analytical ability to understand and translate technical information into understandable language for non-engineers and to write documentation while still maintaining the desired meaning.

  8. Must be well organized and able to handle a wide variety of daily tasks while prioritizing and supporting central repository responsibilities.

Preferred Skills and Education

Prefer experience with Administrative and/or Publisher roles in Command Media document control environment
