Job Description

The Associate Editor is responsible for producing timely, accurate, high-quality medical content to meet the education needs of physicians and other healthcare professionals. The incumbent will provide writing, editing, and project management for continuing medical education (CME) products, collaborating with staff and physician faculty and advisors. Possible 5 days travel annually.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

This position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism, English, or related area plus at least 2 years of related experience (experience in the publishing industry preferred). Requirements of this position include exceptional command of the English language; advanced editing skills; knowledge of editorial standards, research standards, medical terminology, and standard proofreader’s marks. Ability to read and interpret financial reports, and to develop and reconcile budgets is essential. Excellent project management skills are necessary along with the ability to work individually and in teams.

Ability to understand and apply ACCME Accreditation Criteria and Standards for Commercial Support and other applicable laws or regulations with which AAFP-produced CME must comply.

An editing test will be required of all candidates being considered for an interview.
