Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems Sector organization is seeking a versatile Technical Editor and Writer 2 or 3 with graphic design and CBT experience to join the Northrop Grumman team located in Colorado Springs, Colorado . This position will be working on the Sustainment and Modernization of Radar Sensors (SMORS)

Responsibilities Include:

  • The successful candidate writes, rewrites, edits, and formats technical documents such as technical orders, training material, standard operating procedures, and test procedures, to clearly and effectively communicate technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.

  • The candidate will acquire subject knowledge by interviewing subject matter experts and program level individuals, as well as conducting quality review of materials and documentation.

  • This position also requires an individual who can design original graphics to enhance technical documentation and training products, ranging from small PowerPoint illustrations to posters, to interactive courseware (CBT).

This requisition may be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3 based on experience and skills.


This position will be filled at either a level 2 or level 3.

Basic Qualifications:

  • For a level 2, a Bachelors degree with 3 years of technical writing experience, or 1 year with a Masters, or 7 years’ experience in lieu of a degree

  • For a level 3, a Bachelors degree with 6 years of technical writing experience, or 4 years with a Masters, or 10 years’ experience in lieu of a degree; and small team lead experience, mentoring, and planning

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with a current Secret clearance.

  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional personal communication and writing skills.

  • Ability to adhere to internal processes, and standards for quality and style.

  • Must possess experience in Microsoft Office suite of tools including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Air Technical Orders

  • SENSOR program experience

  • Knowledge of Ground Based Radar systems

  • Background in development of Proposals for new government work

  • Experience writing and developing training courseware for a DoD customer

  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop, Captivate, and Acrobat
