In addition, we've helped create a central repository of defense systems related information and resources routinely used by analysts, testers, and other specialists.SURVICE is seeking a Mid to Senior Level Technical Editor. This full-time position will be part of the Defense Systems Information Analysis Center (DSIAC) (, which is operated by SURVICE Engineering for the Department of Defense (DoD). In addition to providing support for the development of DSIAC journals and other products, they will be responsible for editing and supporting the development of various products developed at SURVICE's Aberdeen Area Operation (AAO). Specific editing efforts will involve a variety of online and print documentation, including technical journals, technical reports, proposals, conference papers, books, website and marketing materials, and other documents associated with the company's work efforts. The Technical Editor will have daily interaction with other production and technical staff to ensure technical content is retained and style guide requirements are met. Specifically, this position will require reviewing all text and revisions for grammar, format, style, and consistency; recommending changes as needed; establishing and enforcing the governing product style guide(s); and working with authors, editors, and graphics specialists to integrate graphics and text into final layout in accordance with established guidance/procedures. The Technical Editor will also be involved in product schedule planning, preparation, labor/budget estimation, and coordination meetings to ensure a mutual understanding of work requirements and delivery timelines. QualificationsA BA/BS degree, preferably in English, communications, journalism, technical writing, or a related field.Minimum 5 years of experience in production/line editing of technical publications and promotional materials. The ideal candidate will possess prior experience in developing technical publications and operational security elements associated with limited distribution and/or classified materials. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.U.S. citizenship required; must possess or be eligible for a DoD security clearance.Familiarity with the DoD Information Analysis Center (DoD IAC) program or mission of the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) is a plus. Direct experience with Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard software, especially Adobe InDesign is a plus.
