Primary Tasks Review technical content for readability, clarity, consistency, completeness, accuracy, tone, organization, usability, and visual design Ensure technical content is mechanically correct, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and consistency with company standards pertaining to writing style and brand standards Draft executive summaries, introductions, project briefs, cover letters, and custom deliverables with layout and graphics, based on existing material and independent research Collaborate with graphic designers on content layout and to develop and/or edit information graphics that improve document resonance and effectively convey information visually Collaborate with engineers and other technical personnel to clarify messaging, document objectives, factual correctness, and client preferences Partner with project managers and administrative staff to understand and meet or exceed client expectations related to document quality, budget, and schedule Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently as well as in team environments, often under tight deadline situations Desired Skills and Experience B.S. degree required At least 5 to 10 years of experience in technical writing, marketing, and/or reporting; technical content development experience in engineering services or for public agencies a plus Experience working as part of a technical writing team or similar Flexibility to work virtually with teams across multiple time zones Excellent time management, interpersonal, and communications skills Proven ability to write documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences, including simultaneously working on multiple deliverables at various stages of development Demonstrated ability to adhere to existing style guides, processes, and brand standards Superior persuasive writing ability Experience in layout and graphics development Experience in Adobe InDesign preferred Microsoft Office experience required (specifically Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) Proficiency in document formatting (Word) using template styles required Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; selected candidates must complete editing and writing tests For more than 70 years, Brown and Caldwell has been creating leading-edge environmental solutions for public agencies and private industry.
