Stars and Stripes, the independent daily newspaper devoted to covering the U.S. military, is seeking a Publishing and Media Designer (Content Designer) to join our global Publishing and Media Design team in our Washington DC office. This position is responsible for annual revenue generating publications that require information gathering, managing content partnerships, writing, editing, proofing, layout and design. This position serves as support for executive, marketing, social and organizational collateral, coordinating requirements of revenue, member services and interactive media teams and is also responsible for delivery of other products as operationally needed. Stars and Stripes has reported first-hand on military conflicts since the Civil War and continuously since World War II by reporting information and news of interest and value. We offer the military community a choice of media to assure access by service members, their families, veteran's civilian employees, and other interested readers. Serves as the Publishing and Media Design (PMD) Content Producer / Designer for Stars and Stripes. Specializes in the production of print and digital media business products. Responsible for effectively communicating the evolution and benefits of Stars and Stripes business products to the military and civilian communities.
Manages and delivers business and media collateral to Stars and Stripes audiences and the military community. Provides hands-on knowledge in print and digital media, content development and production. Works closely with Revenue, Editorial, Member Services, Production and Interactive Media to provide execution and delivery of print and digital media projects. Edits, produces and writes video, audio and print copy that crosses all platforms (print, web, digital platforms, newsletters, social media) in brand voice, based on creative briefs, supplied material and project objectives. Amends, revises and/or redevelops campaigns in response to feedback from stakeholders or clients.
Prioritizes and manages multiple projects in a deadline driven environment. Maintains constant focus on branding, product offerings and benefits to the Stars and Stripes military and civilian community. Manages daily and weekly production, newsletters, and social media updates. Oversees written communications for all business collateral needs.
Supports miscellaneous corporate communications as requested, including letter writing for management team, copy placement, press releases and internal employee communications. Reviews and proofreads correspondence. Responsible for the delivery of other products as operationally needed. Complies with EEO, JER and MCP requirements.

Specialized work experience directly related to the duties described above.
Must have working knowledge of Adobe and Microsoft products. Must be able to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively and be able to work under pressure. Strong project management, time management, and organization skills. Must be able to work in a team environment. Must have excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
HIGHLY PREFERRED: Possess a four year degree with a major emphasis in communication arts, visual communication, interactive journalism or emergent media.
