The Farmers Weekly's website offers daily news and market prices while offering a database of essential reference guides and how-to articles, from safeguarding herd health, maximising crop yields and servicing farm machinery to staying ahead of the latest legislation.

On social media it is the single largest UK publication in terms of followers on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, with an active and engaged community.

Farmers Weekly is looking for an energetic and self-motivated community editor to cover the human-interest topics that affect farmers and their families.

It’s a job for a web-savvy individual who has an eye for shareable content and who’s prepared to experiment with new ways of delivering it online. It also involves managing the long-established Farmlife pages of the magazine.

The ideal candidate will have experience in video and social media, and support these skills in other members of the team to drive engagement and interaction on key news, business and technical stories – whether it’s a Farmers Weekly editorial campaign, a big show or an exclusive interview.

A journalism qualification is not a prerequisite, but the ideal candidate will know how to make content resonate with our audience, particularly the next generation of farmers.

So if you are confident with Instagram, Twitter and YouTube and brimming with ideas for how to turn content from these platforms into compelling material for Farmers Weekly, then this could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

This role is based in our Sutton, Surrey, office, but will involve some travel to farms and events.

Key requirements:

• Understanding of the online environment, including video

• Strong social media skills, particularly in relation to Facebook/Twitter, and an interest in emerging social media platforms and tools

• Appreciation of the issues that matter to farming families/businesses.

• Experience of – or interest in – journalism and the media

• Ability to generate commission and edit written content – combined with a flair for finding, curating and delivering content in other forms
