The Publishing Editor will support the Editorial Director in giving editorial feedback on day to day product approvals to licensees on global publishing submissions across the NBCU portfolio including Universal, Illumination and DreamWorks brands and featuring Jurassic World, Despicable Me, Fast & Furious, Trolls and many more. They will be responsible for ensuring all publishing product conforms to brand guidelines and requirements and for working with the publishing PD team to help licensees develop best in class product.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
To review and manage and provide written feedback for the editorial (concepts, manuscripts and layouts) of day-to-day publishing submissions including comics, graphic novels, books and magazines, as well as covermounts and packaging and the copy and editorial of any other publishing product as well as advertising and marketing materials relating to the publishing business as required.
To gather feedback and relevant approval from all internal stakeholders (franchise, production, creative) as relevant and action accordingly.
To work with the broader editorial and creative team to agree creative direction and feedback for the category.
To work closely with the franchise team to understand and contribute to brand story-mapping and universe building.
To work with in-house product development, creative and design and production teams as relevant to meet all NBCU guidelines and expectations.
To support licensees in understanding of the available assets, character bibles and canons and general guidelines and parameters.
To work closely with all members of the Publishing team to understand and manage the business effectively at both local and global level.
To work closely with all members of the relevant PD, Franchise and CDD teams to ensure publishing aligns with broader creative strategies and branding.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Good understanding of Microsoft Office.
Excellent editorial and writing skills.
Knowledge of the publishing industry and a strong understanding and proven passion for branding, licensed characters and intellectual property management.
Previous experience of editorial work within illustrated, ideally children’s and or comic, publishing.
Understanding of editorial functions, needs and processes.
Understanding of the various publishing manufacturing processes as well as the different publishing formats across the business.
A positive and energetic approach to work.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
A good team player and relationship builder.
