The Publishing Manager will be responsible for maximizing the licensing of all available content across Greater China as well as helping local Consumer Products teams and licensing agents across the rest of the region to develop the category in their markets through communication of publishing plans, strategies, asset availability and other category specific information.

This role will work closely with the rest of the global publishing team to understand and create a publishing strategy that is in step with the global publishing strategy and partnerships as well as in keeping with local market franchise and consumer products plans. They will then be responsible for implementing that strategy in the Greater China market by working directly with publishers and key retailers as well as enabling the business across the rest of the region and working closely with the broader consumer products team.



  1. Work with the GM & VP of Global Publishing and the VP of Consumer Products China to set the publishing strategy for the market.

  2. Work with regional CP teams and agents to inform and set the publishing strategy for South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and South East Asia markets ensuring that each local team understands the content availability and global publishing strategy in order to implement at a local level.

  3. Work directly with publishers in Greater China to build opportunities and ensure optimal publishing plans per license.

  4. Work directly with key retailers in Greater China to build presence for NBCU books and magazines.

  5. Work with the broader CP team in Greater China to ensure full integration of publishing in all relevant events and initiatives.

  6. Oversee contract negotiations for Greater China as well as support on all other publishing negotiations for the market to facilitate on publishing specific terms and processes.

  7. Responsible for forecasting, budget and strategic plans for the Greater China publishing business and for collating and disseminating information to and from the rest of the region as required.

  8. Work with the broader publishing team to manage the asset requirements and oversee the approvals process for the partners – working directly with the Greater China publishers as well as supporting all other CP teams and publishers in the region as necessary.

  9. Approve Chinese language titles that are pure translations of existing content when required.


  1. Extensive experience of working within the licensed character publishing business either for a publisher, licensor or agency

  2. A comprehensive understanding of all areas of the publishing business in Greater China and a general understanding of the business as a whole.

  3. Experience of working in an international role and strong communication skills -

  4. Working knowledge of the rest of the region or the global business is an advantage.

  5. A track record of seeking out and driving new business and achieving revenue goals.

  6. Fluent English communication ability is a must.

  8. A proven passion for and understanding of brands and franchises

  9. Strong analytical skills

  10. Demonstrated ability to work and thrive in a start up environment
