Role Overview

We are seeking an attorney with 3-5 years of experience to be part of a team that provides transactional support for EA’s publishing, distribution and platform agreements. You will work directly with business partners, providing guidance on business strategies and risks related to publishing, distribution and platform transactions. This position is based at our headquarters in Redwood Shores.

What a Business Counsel (Publishing & Platforms) does at EA:

  • Structure, draft, and negotiate publishing, distribution and platform agreements with EA’s strategic partners governing the development and distribution of our game titles.

  • Provide legal counsel and strategic business advice in connection with the negotiation, structuring and interpretation of EA’s publishing, distribution and platform agreements.

  • Provide guidance to EA development studios and business teams regarding legal and business issues associated with emerging game platforms, including virtual reality and game streaming platforms.

  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to address complex legal issues relating to EA’s platform agreements.

  • Develop strong relationships with business partners.

  • Commercial transactional support for other EA business units as required.

The next great Business Counsel needs:

  • B.A/B.S., J.D. degree and California State Bar membership required.

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, either in-house and/or at a top-tier law firm, preferably with some portion of that experience in technology and commercial transactions.

  • Experience with ecommerce, privacy and antitrust issues is helpful but not required.

  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal matters.

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills along with excellent communication skills, business judgment and strategic thinking.

  • Working knowledge of software development concepts and related technical issues a plus.
