Major Responsibilities:


The Marketing Content Editor/Manager manages the content needs from conception to completion for B2C and B2B promotional advertising across all communication channels. Acts as chief editor, ensuring all copy and content is accurate, adheres to brand standards and follows marketing strategy. Directs the work of the copywriting staff, and works with other key members of the Marketing Team to create and manage the brand tone and voice and marketing brand personas. Works with members of the Creative Team, Content Marketers, CRM Managers, and others to determine the proper marketing strategies and communication vehicles for specific types of messaging, promoting the sale of goods and services for the Advance Auto Parts, Inc. enterprise and all companies operated by Advance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages the creation of all marketing content to ensure it speaks to the intended audiences and strategically aligns with company goals and strategies, both internal and external, across multiple channels.

  • Acts as chief editor of all marketing copy and content, ensuring accuracy, clarity and consistency of messaging, and ensuring it resonates with the viewer/reader, drivessales, engagement, retention, leads and positive consumer behavior.

  • · Partners with Creative Managers, Senior Designers, Content Strategists, CRM Managers and other key members of the Marketing Team to determine the strategic direction of advertising pieces and tocreate high-quality, valuable content to attract, inform, and engage an audience.

  • · Manages the creation of best-in-class promotional copy and content for the B2B and B2C sides of the business. This includes all print and digital advertising, educational pieces, training materials and additional materials for all other companies and programs supported by Advance.

  • Directs all digital and web promotional content for B2C and B2B sides of the business, and ensures brand consistency of messages. This includes content for all websites, online loyalty programs, emails, rollovers, promos, espots, etc.

  • Directs and supervises the development, maintenance and communication of the brand tone and voice and marketing personas for the Advance Auto Parts, Inc. enterprise.

  • Drives positive results with all outside vendors and other partners by supervising and approving all marketing content, ensuring it aligns with branding and produces the intended results.

  • Maintains partnerships with key members of the Merchandising and Commercial teams to ensure all copy and content is in line with promotional strategies and campaigns.

  • Leads, teaches and inspires the copywriting staff. This includes acting as editor and approver of all materials created, and providing the team with the creative direction they need to ensure they produce brand-consistent messaging for all marketing and advertising endeavors.

  • Interviews business partners, attends meetings, and researches printed and online resources to obtain information and data for publication, verify facts, and clarify information.

  • Confer with Creative Team Managers and Marketing Operations Team to discuss department requirements and scheduling, outline basic presentation concepts, and coordinate creative activities.

  • Review advertising trends, consumer surveys, and other data regarding marketing of specific and related goods and services to formulate presentation approach.

  • Strong leadership skills to work closely with all internal partners and vendors to concept and create individual project/program needs

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience managing other copywriters or content producers

  • Minimum 3 years senior-level copywriting experience demonstrated by portfolio

  • Demonstrated ability to create materials that drive customer experience and sales results

  • Industry experience with advertising agencies, design groups, in-house design groups (retail and corporate)

  • Experience in overseeing branding efforts with large companies

  • Ability to organize and maintain multiple jobs simultaneously in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

  • Experience with online proofing software

  • Proficient with PC basics and Macintosh computers and design-related programs is a plus


Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or reputable design school; or

8+ years related experience and/or training as a copywriter, which includes a minimum of 3 years of experience as a senior-level copywriter; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


This position manages a team of copywriters, including two copywriters on staff and additional contracted writers as needed (one-two writers as contractors).


Membership in National Advertising or Design organizations preferred
