Managing Editor - Editorial Content

Capital One is looking for a rock star Managing Editor to join our team. We’re looking for a seasoned editor and an expert in all things related to content and channel optimization to produce great content for our customers while advancing the brand story and the customer journey. The Managing Editor for Auto Editorial Content will think like a journalist and help establish Capital One Auto as a go-to resource by:

  • Supporting the lead Content Marketing Strategist in advancing the Auto Content Marketing Strategy

  • Managing the editorial content development process (from idea to publishing) across multiple formats and content marketing channels; collaborating with a range of content and strategy contributors of all levels

  • Developing the strategy for the creation content assets including long-form articles, educational pieces, technical how-to guides, infographics, videos, and more

  • Supervising a team of copywriters and coordinating agency support

  • Analyzing existing content marketing activities based on data/analytics and developing clear and actionable POVs to guide future content strategy and investment allocations

  • Developing and refining content standards and governance (e.g., writing style guides, tone, etc.)

  • Advancing the Auto SEO strategy including keyword research/tracking and technical considerations

  • Working with our marketing team to implement and refine distribution strategies

  • Supporting recommendations to continue advancing technology and UI/UX for the Auto Editorial Content

  • Leveraging market data to develop content themes/topics and execute a plan to develop the assets that support a point of view and educate customers that leads to critical behavioral metrics

  • Planning and managing editorial and content calendars, including managing workflows in our Enterprise calendar tool

  • Ensuring all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience

  • Staying current in a rapidly changing field interfacing with a wide range of media partners

  • Strategic thinker: Ability to collect, organize, and synthesize information to make a decision, recommendation, or present a POV

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and deliver results

  • Ability to guide and influence across all levels and functions

  • Quick learner – must be eager to independently learn about the latest technologies, solutions and platforms

  • Possess passion and skill in behavioral data and the power of making data informed decisions

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proofreading

  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint Skills

Level: Principal Associate

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Military experience

  • At least 6 years of experience in publishing, journalism, marketing or consulting

  • At least 3 years of content marketing experience, including planning and executing content marketing strategies

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience and knowledge in SEO, Social and Web Analytics (such as Adobe Target)
