L3 Technologies Technical Editor/Writer in Phoenix, Arizona

ACSS Engineering Services group is seeking a Technical Editor/Writer with the primary responsibility of writing and editing technical documents such as component maintenance manuals, service bulletins, installation manuals and pilot's guides. The candidate will be required to write clear and effictive technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of internal and external customers. The candidate will interface with multiple functional areas within the company such as repair&overhaul, quality, and engineering to ensure completeness and correctness of all technical manuals.

Responsibilities:

• Develop framework for new or revised, single or multi volume, Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM) and Service Bulletins based on the approved template. • Verify Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM) and installation manuals adhere to the latest templates (follows iSpec2200 International Standards). • Verify technical manuals and service bulletins follow the rules and guidelines from Specification ASD STE100 (Simplified Technical English). • Use ACSS checklists to verify completeness. • Verify and incoporate redline markups. • Verify units of measurement are in international format (SI) followed by converted US in parentheses. • Verify task codes are incorporated and are correct per template and MTOSS system. • Verify correct drawings, schematics, and Service Bulletins are incorporated into documentation. • Check all front matter for correct content of incorporated changes. • Check all schematic drawings for correct revision number and updates. • Check Parts List for incorporation of latest updates. • Check Parts List for correct effectivity, quantities, item numbers, and not illustrated marks. • Verify all schematic materials and tooling is incorporated in proper sections. • Bookmark PDF document and verify PDF properties.

Required: • Associate’s degree (preferred major in technical writing, professional writing, science or engineering) with 15 years of experience in aircraft maintenance manuals, component maintenance manuals and installation technical documentation. • Strong knowledge of S1000D and ATA iSpec 2200 • IETM/Software or equivalent documentation for technical publication authoring • Strong knowledge of ATA Graphic Style Standards. • Experience with rules and guidelines from ASD STE100 (Simplified Technical English). • Ablility to read/interpret engineering drawings/models/redlines and bill of materials • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Proficient with MS Office suite • Experience with XML/SGML, Interleaf/Quicksilver, Framemaker, Adobe Acrobat, and CMS system or equivalent. • Must be motivated, disciplined and exhibit a willingness to learn

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree (preferred major in technical writing, professional writing, science or engineering) with 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance and installation technical documentation. • Strong knowledge of technical documentation publication standards for commercial aviation industry • Transponder and /or TCAS product experience
