The Business Communications Team works closely with management, employees, and outside organizations to coordinate internal and external communications in support of the Atlantic Test Range. This includes producing news articles and news releases, maintaining internal blogs/newsletters, managing the public web site and internal SharePoint site, creating and maintaining informational materials for employees and customers. The team is also responsible for conducting photography on the premises, managing the photo library, and producing display posters, graphics, and other signage.


  • Researches, prepares and reviews technical documents, including reports, white papers and investment briefs.

  • Researches, prepares and releases weekly, monthly and annual highlights and accomplishments.

  • Develops and maintains repositories for technical documents, briefs, and a comprehensive library of technical terminology, using SharePoint.

  • Creates and maintains standard templates of technical documents and investment briefs.

  • Interviews engineers and technicians and observes procedures in order to develop, update and maintain standard operating procedures and technical manuals.

  • Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.

  • Manages updates and revisions to technical literature.

  • Interviews system developers, maintainers, and operators and reads journals, reports, and other technical material to become familiar with technologies employed at ATR.

  • Reviews published material and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and publication.

  • Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and/or charts to illustrate concepts.

Experience Required:

  • Six years’ minimum work experience performing the above or similar duties is required

  • Writing or editing experience must clearly demonstrate ability to present information commensurate with the degree of professional authority required by the assignment. Applicant should provide writing samples / professional portfolio

  • Experience with SharePoint Design and Maintenance highly desired

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom) and graphics experience highly desired

  • Applicant should be outgoing and a Self-starter, preferably with some experience supporting a Government Customer

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required, with strong emphasis in journalism, English, communications, and technical writing.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and hold a Secret Clearance Work Conditions: Conditions will vary. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings, but some outside work may be required. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Applicant should be capable of lifting 50-100 lbs. assisted by other employees.Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license.
