The Managing Editor, Digital Copy is responsible for defining and evolving the digital voice and style for Wyndham Hotel Group’s family of 18 brands. Key participant in concepting, ideation and innovation for digital efforts. Leads, coaches and develops a team of Digital Copywriters and Freelance Copywriters, ensuring all projects are launched on time and pitch-perfect. Edits copy and provides feedback to ensure quality standards are achieved and continuous improvement occurs. Organizes and prioritizes efforts (projects, change requests, new property content, etc.), and reports on throughput and KPIs. Contributes to the definition and evolution of the digital copy workflow processes including digital marketing campaigns, offers, product enhancements and new openings. Key participant in creative concepting and innovation for digital efforts. Partners with stakeholders to iterate and refine options to achieve optimal solutions. Collaborates closely with Digital Producers, Digital Designers (UX and Visual), Customer Care, Front End Developers, Product, Analytics, Brand Marketing, Loyalty, Content and Project Management areas of the business. Must be highly innovative with a passion for customer journeys, usability, creativity, organization, technology and branding.

Responsibilities

  • Defines and evolves the digital voice for Wyndham Hotel Group’s family of 18 brands. Creates and evolves digital copy style guides. Key participant in concepting, ideation, and innovation on given assignments and new business initiatives.

  • Leads, coaches and develops a team of Digital Copywriters and Freelance Copywriters, ensuring all projects are launched on time and pitch-perfect. Edits copy and provides feedback to team to ensure quality standards are being achieved and continuous improvement occurs.

  • Contributes to the definition and evolution of the digital copy workflow processes including digital brand marketing campaigns, offers, product enhancements and new openings. Builds organizational systems and template libraries for copy assets.

  • Organizes and prioritizes the work, and reports on throughput and KPIs.

  • Patterns the competition, understands site KPIs, and makes recommendations for site improvements; Holds Copy Clinics/Huddles/Creative Sessions to spark innovation

Scope/Financial Responsibility

Manages resources for internal team of Digital Copywriters and Freelance Copywriters.

Abilities/Key Competencies/Skills

  • Candidate must be proactive, innovative, solutions-oriented, organized and inspiring

  • Must be able to lead and mentor a team, developing their copywriting and editing skills

  • Must be able to lead copy ideation for projects of all sizes

  • Seasoned at writing and editing for a variety of digital experiences (product/property pages, transactional flows, blogs, video, kiosk experiences, etc.)

  • Fluent in Responsive and Adaptive design and functional principles

  • Strong knowledge of the digital copy landscape best practices

  • Keen prioritization/adaptation skills; Ability to shift focus as business needs dictate

  • Creative thinker, strategic, conceptual, organized and structured

  • Strong presentation communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Understanding of CMS systems and web publishing standards/best practices; AEM a plus

  • Must submit portfolio demonstrating creative, response-driving digital work to be considered.

Experience/Certificates/Education
  • 5-8 years of digital copywriting and editing experience for a world-class creative agency and/or hospitality, entertainment or retail brand

  • 4 years of leadership experience managing people

  • Must supply examples of work/portfolio to be considered
