SUMMARY

The editor is responsible for generating new ideas for-- and for acquiring, developing, and/or writing editorial content of interest to rheumatologists and primary care clinicians. Coordinates with internal and external subject matter experts, sales teams, and clients to generate and manage engaging and relevant information of interest to these provider audiences. Under the guidance of editorial leaders, this individual will be able to exercise judgment within loosely defined parameters in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct research to identify key areas of interest to this specialist audience and allied health care professionals; interviews, writes, edits, and proofreads editorial content to assure that it is clear, concise, and accurate for digital and/or print media.

  • Recruit and collaborate with key opinion leaders in the field to contribute to the publication (in print and/or online) and grow the communities.

  • Work with physician authors and freelancers to acquire and develop articles, podcasts, case studies, blogs, and other types of media.

  • Collaborate with other editorial team members on content ideas and generation.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of an active editorial board.

  • Collaborate with sales and project managers to develop project plans and digital custom products.

  • Develop monthly Special Reports around a specific theme

  • Review data and recommend new angles and approaches for maximizing content engagement.

  • Test digital content subject lines and other elements to maximize response.

  • Stay current with content consumption trends to optimize opportunities to engage audience across platforms.

  • Contribute to the development of workplace metrics to enable better use of resources.

  • Maintain positive professional relationships with authors, industry experts, and other internal and external contacts related to the generation and preparation of content.

  • Attend trainings and events on behalf of the brand or as needed by the business.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, graphic design, or a related field or equivalent professional experience

  • 5-7 years’ experience writing and generating content across multiple platforms.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Familiarity and ease with web technology and social networking (e.g. content management systems, HTMP, Twitter)

  • Knowledge of Ominture analytics and SEO strategies a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • An understanding of the professional roles, language and terminology, and nuances of the rheumatology and primary care industry and the ability to translate that understand to persuasive creative content is critical.
