Job Summary & Responsibilities


Enabling Goldman Sachs? research analysts to model investment ideas efficiently and accurately, whilst ensuring that clients can access these ideas when, where and how they choose. GIR Technologists leverage the latest in cloud, mobile and big data technologies to help define and deliver our digital investment research strategy.


The Goldman Sachs Investment Research division is undergoing a transformation in how our research is produced and consumed by our clients. We are shifting from a primarily PDF consumption experience to one that emphasizes digital first experiences across new web renditions. You?ll join the team as we embark on the next phase of this exciting project, with a strong emphasis on interactive HTML5 media, analytics and multi-channel content distribution. Many Greenfield opportunities await the successful candidate which will be built upon a proven foundation.


  • As a software engineer, you will be responsible for working with business product owners to understand their goals and priorities for the digital research consumption platform and translate those goals into development action plans.

  • There are opportunities for the successful candidate to work on a diverse set of Technology platforms and be involved in day to day coding as well as lead the development efforts of other team members.

  • We sit with our business users and are exposed, daily, to their thought processes, allowing us to apply relevant technology solutions to the problems they face.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years relevant commercial experience

  • Development experience with HTML5, JavaScript and other web technologies

  • A strong analytical and problem solving mind-set

  • Proven record of working across the full product lifecycle: requirements clarification and analysis, producing high level and detailed designs, implementing complex Java modules and providing support

  • Willingness to collaborate with our business partners to understand and implement their requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong web and mobile technology skills including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript

  • Experience transforming digital media to target a broad spectrum of devices

  • Agile methodologies

  • Experience working in a global team
