As a member of Curriculum Solutions, part of Macmillan Learning, the Labs Solutions Editor will work with instructors and/or authors to configure digital solutions from the Macmillan Learning portfolio, including building individual assignments to meet
the desired learning objectives of the instructors as well as provide pedagogical guidance. The LSE will also serve as a proprietary software authority and subject matter expert working with instructors within the Macmillan Learning digital platform. The LSE
also assists in the development of Sapling Learning brand content of his or her respective subject, working so that content is delivered within quality standards, market requirements, budget, and timelines set. As requested by the team lead, he or she works
with managing editors, product and sales to ensure that the content created meets and exceeds market requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Content Development – Write and review custom digital products (assessment questions, lab manuals, tutorials, videos, simulations, etc.) of varying difficulties and modalities, which test students’ understanding and application of concepts. Use subject-matter
expertise to create, edit, and modify digital lab solutions and content as needed. Review all content and make revisions during periodic review to maintain quality standards of subject. As directed by team lead, assist with final reviews of content. Respond
to instructor inquiries regarding content, including addressing comments, misconceptions, and errors by both students and instructors, in a timely and professional manner.
Implementation – Analyze and translate user needs to build and configure instructors’ digital lab solutions to align with their lab materials. Use subject-matter expertise to create, edit, and modify assignments or digital solutions and content as needed.
Instructor Support – Troubleshoot technical issues that instructors encounter with Macmillan Learning digital platforms. Provide guidance to instructors on how to use all aspects of Macmillan Learning digital platforms. Respond to all instructor inquiries and
requests in a timely and professional manner.
Teamwork – Support and assist in the execution of projects as a team. Understand when to ask for help from others. At discretion of team lead, work with other departments, such as Client Success, Product Support, and Development, to provide recommendations
and feedback on future software enhancements and content development based on the LSE’s own experience and customer feedback. At the discretion of team lead, participate as an active stakeholder for subject-specific new initiatives, such as HTML5. Keep accurate
live reports of project status to allow for clear communication between the LSE and the Team Lead.
Sales Support/Client Retention – Review lab manuals of potential adopters. Work with the sales and marketing teams on activities designed to promote learning success and retention of current business. Establish and build upon the relationships with instructors
to promote renewal business. Occasionally provide sales-focused walkthroughs, demos or product consultations with prospective clients. Regularly assist in creating and reviewing marketing material, and travel to schools or conferences to support the sales
• Masters or Ph.D. in corresponding field
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Experience teaching chemistry or other higher education labs
• Must have a thorough understanding of how to construct questions that move learners toward critical thinking
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative environment
• Experience with administration or creation of educational software or experience using online homework preferred
• Experience planning multi-faceted projects is helpful
• Customer service experience
