The Rockefeller University Press publishes three biomedical research journals: The Journal of Cell Biology, The Journal of Experimental Medicine, and The Journal of General Physiology. We are committed to identifying and publishing the highest quality research. All editorial decisions are made in conjunction with active academic scientists, and peer-review operations and pre-press production functions are carried out at the RUP offices.
The Journal of Experimental Medicine seeks a scientific editor to join our growing editorial team. The Scientific Editor will oversee the peer review process for submitted manuscripts, recruit high quality submissions to the journal, and promote journal policies. Under the supervision of the Executive Editor, the Scientific Editor is expected to contribute to the development and execution of the journal's strategic direction.
Ph.D. in immunology required; postdoctoral experience is strongly preferred. One or two years of editorial experience desired. Regular travel to attend relevant scientific meetings and to visit research institutions necessary. Must have exceptional communication skills and superb attention to detail, as well as a strong interest in scientific publishing and publication ethics. Excellent candidates with a minimum of two or more years of editorial experience may be considered for a job title commensurate with their years of experience.
