We are seeking a Sr. Science Editor with STM experience and background or strong interest in physical and/or space sciences to manage content development for a prestigious digital science reference product as part of a small editorial team.

Critical Functions: * Following progress in your assigned subject areas and working with scientific consultants to identify new content to add to the database. * Regularly reviewing existing content in your subject areas for needed updates and corrections. * Commissioning manuscripts from scientific and engineering experts, and editing those manuscripts to an appropriate reading level for undergraduates and non-specialists. * Writing short, engaging articles on timely science topics that direct the reader back into the database’s relevant resources. * Locating and minor editing of visual resources to support new and existing content. * Using various digital content management systems to produce content of superb quality.

A successful candidate will have: * Advanced degree in a relevant scientific/technological discipline or equivalent experience. * Two years of experience in science journalism, science education, or scholarly publishing. * Strong writing and editing skills are essential, as well as comfort with scientific writing that may be detailed or technical. * Attention to detail and a dedication to factual accuracy are also vital. * Must be proficient in working within digital environments. * An understanding of issues associated with digital accessibility will be favorable to your application.
