The Business

Towers Watson benefit consultants have deep experience working with organizations of all types and sizes. We’ve worked closely with clients to develop some of the most advanced benefit design techniques currently in use. We provide advice on the strategy, design, financing, delivery, ongoing management and communication of health and group benefit programs.

The Role

The Proposal Editor will be responsible for preparing and editing new business proposals, engagement letters, presentations and related documents, as well as managing projects involving multiple team members. You will be responsible for ensuring quality proposals are prepared efficiently and on time, maintaining the quality of written new business materials and serving as a writing resource for the office.

■ Work with consultants to coordinate preparation of and edit new business proposals, proposal cover letters, engagement letters, consulting capabilities presentations, etc.

■ Write, edit, proof, coordinate and produce quality, targeted, clear, coherent, consistent, accurate and timely proposals and presentations (using New York Times style)

■ Schedule and attend strategic proposal coordination meetings; work with lead consultants or business developers to determine roles, responsibilities and deadlines

■ Keep proposal schedules, perform a significant amount of research and editing, monitor progress, coordinate communication with proposal team and oversee the completion of all related items

■ Confirm that proposals include standard fee language and that appropriate reviews and approvals accompany each proposal

■ Ensure all proposals arrive at their destination before deadline

■ Work with and provide instruction to staff for word processing, presentation development, design, formatting, copying, collating, assembly and shipment of related materials

■ Serve as the local office’s proposal information resource. Obtain sample proposals and presentations from other offices

■ Serve as a proposal writing and editing resource for the office, although some miscellaneous writing also may be required. Is constantly aware of and uses good writing techniques and grammar

■ Work with local consultants and consultants across the country.

■ Organize and maintain files for proposals, presentations, RFPs, etc.

■ Maintain and continually update key proposal data (e.g., client lists, biographies, editor library).

Job Requirements

The Requirements

■ One to five years’ experience of proposal writing/editing preferred

■ Exceptional writing, editing and organizational skills

■ Able to use various word processing and presentation programs.

■ Able to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines

■ Able to effectively communicate and cooperate with individuals at all levels of the organization including consultants, support staff and team members

■ Able to work effectively both face-to-face and via phone/email

■ Able to work overtime when needed due to deadlines

■ BA preferred in English, journalism or related field

■ Positive attitude and strong sense of teamwork
