Role Summary:*

Reuters is looking for a digitally savvy visual storyteller that can analyze data to transform them into clear, accurate, and compelling visual/graphical representations for use across platforms.

Candidates should have a willingness to learn and interpret financial and investment concepts and a demonstrated ability to excel at creating daily breaking news graphics as well as long-term, data-driven news applications. S/he will identify and interview appropriate data sources as needed and is constantly looking for opportunities to use developing technologies, pitch project ideas and learn new skills Attention to detail and accuracy is a must. This position will support the Reuters Graphics French service as well as the English Reuters Graphics News service.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

The graphics journalist will create visual order from disparate concepts or amorphous data sets to emphasize key messages/takeaways. With a first class news judgment and understanding of global news events and financial concepts, s/he applies logic and research to design decisions to develop information designs that add clarity and tell a story.

Essential Skills and Experience: * The candidate must be able to demonstrate a genuine understanding of contemporary design, trends and issues. * Must have a keen interest and strong experience in keeping abreast of new techniques and tools for presenting information visually and interactively. * Must to comfortable working independently and making decisions * This is a creative role, therefore you may be asked to show examples of your work during the interview process where you have shown creativity and imagination. * Must be innovative and inquisitive about new techniques and tools, keeping ahead of other companies. * First class news judgment and understanding of global news events and financial concepts * Fluency in both French and English to business level (written and verbal) Desired Skills and Experience: * Knowledge of or interest in French news, politics, business and data a plus * The candidate should have a graduate degree in journalism, and/or graphic design - Technical mastery with applications such as Excel, Adobe Illustrator are required and proficiency with generating content in HTML5/CSS/Javascript are highly desired. * In addition to technical know-how, the post requires strong interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate with graphics colleagues in New York and Singapore and to advocate for graphics within the newsroom.
