Fusion, the ABC and Univision Joint Venture Managing Editor in Illinois
From the company that brought you The A.V. Club, The Onion, Gizmodo, and Fusion TV comes a new website exploring the intersection of food and pop culture. A spinoff of The A.V. Club’s Supper Club vertical, this new site will—from its perch in the Midwest—celebrate high and low food culture with equal reverence, satiate curiosities, and tell interesting stories without snark or pretense.
We’re looking to fill the role of managing editor. Reporting to the editor-in-chief, this person will manage the day-to-day operations of the site, setting its editorial agenda.
The position’s duties include assigning and editing stories, managing staff and freelance writers, and help contribute to daily coverage.
It is a position that favors someone who generates ideas, willing to take bold risks in our new media landscape, and can approach storytelling from oblique angles.
This is a high-level position based in Chicago, and as such, previous experience editing and managing writers is strongly preferred.
Candidates should include a resume, a cover letter explaining your vision and philosophy of what a food website looks like in 2017 and beyond (under 500 words, please), and up to three published pieces and why you’re proud of it.
We are looking to fill this position quickly; deadline for submission is Monday, Oct. 16 at noon central time.
You will be working from the offices of The Onion, a company that offers generous benefits including full health coverage, 401K employer matching, free weekly staff meals, wellness reimbursements, a generous work-from-home policy, and unlimited vacation.
