G3 Communications Managing Editor in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey

Demand Gen Report, a fast-growing dynamic online publication that targets B2B marketing and marketing technology professionals, is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Managing Editor. This person will manage day-to-day editorial operations and be able to meet content levels and deadlines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Edit daily news briefs, feature articles and special reports, as well as additional editorial elements for weekly e-newsletter

  • Seek out demand gen and marketing automation industry news and trends for current and future coverage in DGR

  • Build active social presence as a DGR editor and G3 Communications employee, including participation in Twitter and LinkedIn, as well as other relevant social channels

  • Solicit and edit contributed columns from industry experts

  • Write blogs, features, special reports, daily news articles

  • Participate in weekly editorial meetings

  • Maintain/coordinate editorial calendar and assign and manage assoc. editors to assure they are on schedule with articles, features and special reports

  • Attend industry events and user conferences as determined by editors. Some travel required.

  • Help write promo copy as necessary

  • Back up associate editors to post articles, using the content management system, as needed

  • Write custom content pieces, as interested and available

Candidate should ideally work from our Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey office.

This position needs a motivated, knowledgeable and skilled leader to assist our editor-in-chief and energize our small but growing team of writers in order to deliver insightful, fresh content with the highest standards of our industry. We also require a candidate who can balance both writing and editing and can balance shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment. There is potential to take on extracurricular custom writing projects for additional compensation on a per project basis as well.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in B2B magazine/newspaper writing/editing (ideally B2B marketing, but not required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in English/Journalism/Communications, or equivalent experience

  • Strong writing, copy editing and proofreading skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Solid multi-tasking skills
