Position Summary:

Working as an independent contractor from home, the Elementary School Social Studies Curriculum Content Editor will work with the Curriculum Content Writer and curriculum and editorial teams to ensure quality and accuracy of content for intended learners.

This may include reviewing course outlines, lesson plans, and scripts for the online elementary social studies courses, and review existing modified content so that it is accessible for all students. Effective communication with the Product Development Management

team, other Curriculum Specialists, and Editors is essential.

Candidates with experience and expertise in elementary-level American history and social studies, online learning, content editing, and curriculum development are encouraged to apply.


  • Edit content to ensure appropriate reading level and pedagogical approach for intended learners

  • Provide helpful feedback and assistance to writers to guide revisions

  • Verify content for factual-accuracy and alignment to national and/or state standards

  • Edit content to align to national and/or state standards

  • Collaborate with the curriculum development and editorial teams to develop a comprehensive and consistent academic program

  • Review interactive/online courses according to predetermined criteria in an online/Web-based format

  • Other duties as assigned


These contractual positions are temporary and are usually paid per piece. These positions will be home-based and may be part-time or full-time.

  • Bachelor’s degree in social studies or a related field required; master’s degree preferred

  • Experience teaching and delivering instructional material

  • Experience using Bloom’s Taxonomy to develop content that meets the needs of students on multiple levels of learning

  • Assessment writing or editing is a plus

  • Experience in online learning platforms welcomed

  • Must enjoy a challenging work environment that requires significant flexibility, self-direction, and creativity

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office programs)

  • Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail skills

  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines

  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team and independently
