Position Summary: SURVICE Engineering is seeking a full-timeTechnical Editor/Production Directorto provide support for the development of a biannual Defense Research and Engineering Journal publication in accordance with standard DoD style guides. This position will be part of the Defense Systems Information Analysis Center (DSIAC) (www.dsiac.org), which is operated by SURVICE Engineering for the Department of Defense (DoD). The Technical Editor/Production Director will coordinate with the rest of the journal development team and Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) counterparts in supporting outreach efforts for promoting the journal. Specifically, this involves reviewing all text and revisions; recommending changes as needed; establishing, and enforcing the journal style guide; and working with authors, editors, and graphics specialists to integrate graphics and text into the final layout in accordance with established guidance/procedures. The Technical Editor/Production Director will be involved in journal planning, preparation and coordination meetings in support of journal promotion activities and development.
Work Location: Fort Belvoir, VA will be the primary duty location with occasional work at Belcamp, MD.
Must have an active DoD security clearance
BA degree preferably in English or Communications.
Minimum 8 years of experience in production editing of technical publications and promotional materials.
The ideal candidate will possess prior experience in developing technical publications and operational security elements associated with limited distribution and/or classified materials.
Direct experience with Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard software, especially Adobe InDesign is a plus.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with the DoD Information Analysis Center (DoD IAC) program or mission of the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) is a plus.
