The Behavioral Science & Innovation (BSI) division at Maritz is a center of excellence that tests, applies, and surfaces behavioral science insights throughout our client solutions. Led by the industry’s first Chief Behavioral Officer, this team also oversees the Maritz Field Research Collaborative, a program bridging the gap between academic behavioral theory and applied solution practice. We are evolving the collective understanding of what really works, by conducting controlled experiments within Maritz’ large-scale programs designed to influence positive behavior through incentive, reward, and experience design. BSI is unleashing Maritz’ potential to be the “nudge unit” of industry.The Editor will directly support Maritz’ Chief Behavioral Officer in effort to engage the modern business audience in content and conversation about applied behavioral science. By making behavioral science relevant, accessible, and compelling to the modern business community, the editor will play a visible role in enhancing the impact of applied behavioral science in industry, while creating differentiating brand equity for Maritz through thought leadership in the field.
Serve as primary editor of PeopleScience.com website and supporting social and PR channels. Project oversight can include budget of $100,000+. Responsible for ensuring projects are scoped and managed to come in on budget while meeting and/or exceeding quality expectations.
Reporting and Working Relationships
Reports to the Chief Behavioral Officer. Manages one FTE: Dedicated social media coordinator for Maritz Behavioral Science & Innovation. Manages one external agency: PR / by-lined article placements. Works closely with all members of Maritz Behavioral Science & Innovation, Maritz Brand & Reputation, and marketing contacts and thought leaders at all Maritz business units. Maintains network within behavioral science academic community.
Content Management: Running PeopleScience.com, managing content strategy and calendar, identifying and organizing contributions from Maritz Behavioral Science & Innovation, internal Maritz, academic and other Design and implement content strategy. Manage website content management systems, with support from internal technical, UX, and design teams. Substantial writing and editing required – for site content directly, as well as writing prompts and editing contributions from other Maritz SME’s. Serve as Maritz internal point of contact for leveraging content for presentations, highlighting relevant Maritz Behavioral Science & Innovation material on corporate website, etc.
Content Generation: Writing content for PeopleScience site and channels, supporting the writing of Maritz SME’s, conducting interviews, sourcing video production, etc. Build relationships with the academic community in social psychology, applied neuroscience, and behavioral economics; conducting interviews, showcasing applications for their research, and sourcing guest contributions to PeopleScience channels. Surface and elevate internal and client examples of behavioral science application and thought leadership, from Maritz experts in sales incentives, employee recognition, event design, etc.
Content Amplification: Manage social media FTE and PR agency directly; other opportunities to extend content through media placements, by-lined articles, paid media, and link-sharing with blogs. Responsible for social media support and amplification of PeopleScience content, including management of one FTE dedicated to Maritz Behavioral Science & Innovation social media. Responsible for PR amplification of PeopleScience / CBO thought leadership, including current PR agency support and other opportunities to extend content through media placements, by-lined articles, paid media, and link-sharing with blogs.
5+ years of experience with editorial content: blog, magazine, newspaper and/or content marketing for brand or agency. Science/psych/tech-related content experience preferred .
Demonstrated passion for behavioral science. Need not have a PhD but must be very familiar with the field.
Familiar relationships / network with academics and thought leaders in behavioral science.
Excellent organizational and content management skills.
Excellent writing skills, for a popular audience interested in science,
