TheEditor-Writer will serve as a member of our Marketing and Communicationsteam, helping to ensure the excellence of all prepared materials both forinternal and external clients.Position responsibilities include:Proofreads, copy edits, and developmentally edits a variety of journalarticles, newsletters, research reports, presentations, marketingmaterial, and other documents.Revises and/or writes original copy for projects as needed.Researches issues related to the content of the work as needed.Works to ensure materials are error-free and consistent with brand guidelinesand copy styles.Checks grammar, spelling, and punctuation; flags inconsistencies andoffers suggestions to improve unclear language.Uses electronic markup methods, such as Track Changes in MS Word.Prioritizes multiple responsibilities and takes initiative in work.Works as an effective team member to ensure completion of assigned tasks.Responds to internal and external requests in a timely manner, including,at times, during non-traditional business hours.SKILLS:Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.Ability to recognize quality writing and to give constructive editorialguidance.Proven organizational skills and the ability to take initiative, prioritizetasks, follow tasks to completion, and meet deadlines.Knowledge and understanding of copywriting and message development formarketing purposes.Ability to work directly, cooperatively, and effectively with educationprofessionals both within and outside of the organization.Ability to synthesize complex information from multiple sources.Knowledge and understanding of K-12 education systems and marketplace.Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor s degree3+ years of experience in professional editing, including developmentediting, copyediting, and proofreading, and including using a prescribedstyle guide (e.g., house style guide, or APA, Associated Press,Chicago Manual,PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEDegree in communications, English, journalism, education, or related fieldExperience in grant writing and/or RFP responsesExperience in long-form editing or writing for a newspaper, magazine, oronline outletExperience editing education-based contentPlease include a preferred part-time work schedule in your cover letter.We are proud to offer our employees a substantial benefit package includinghealth, dental, vision, life and accident insurance, flexible spendingaccounts, and an employee assistance program.
