Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) with a major in English, Journalism or Communications from a four-year college or university and two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Purpose of the Position :
The Editor & Translation Coordinator edits according to company style and assignment direction, and coordinates all translations. Editing involves verifying facts and figures through MAPEI documents and the Internet, converting measurements into metric via an approved resource, judging text regarding its logic/reason, and conferring with content authors about questionable text.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Perform needed Spanish translations whenever needed and/or practical, utilizing Marketing’s Spanish translation database when possible
Populating Marketing’s Spanish translation database for consistent phrasing and efficiency translation turnaround
Maintain a Spanish-English lexicon of commonly used phrases with help from the Senior Editor.
Review Marketing documents and Webtext for content, grammar and company style, making corrections and suggestions.
Coordinate all language translations for marketing text, format said translations for departmental needs, and coordinate product name standardization and finalization.
Work with Senior Editor on developing concepts, promotional text, package copy and collateral materials.
Interpret Company’s style in editing press releases, magazine articles, private labels, annual calendar, CAD drawings and similar detailed projects.
Conduct trademark ability research on the USPTO Website and submit requests for official trademark ability research by outside firms.
Be self-sufficient at utilizing processes and tools for efficient editing and processing of copy.
Create and maintain a master registration status list for our product names; and coordinate with management the product names that should be registered.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules and instructions.
Perform other duties as required.
