The role of Editor – Post Production at the Disney Digital Network is to edit and oversee the post production process for our online video content that will span our editorial voices and departments within DCPI Publishing and Digital Media. The Editor must have extensive knowledge of the post-production process to ensure that expectations and deadlines are met. Their primary objective is editing and they should be able to conceptualize ideas and assemble media assets into high-quality dynamic content that supports our voices, brands, and business objectives. They will also work to ensure that every video created meets our standards and adheres to our guidelines. This may include the actual editing of a project, overseeing a staff or freelance editor, or shepherding a third-party production through the post process. They must be able to manage multiple projects at various stages of production simultaneously. Organizational and collaborative skills as well as an ability to prioritize are a must. Editors must have proven leadership skills and be pro-active, with exceptional foresight, follow-through, and attention to detail. They will report to a Senior Editor to ensure best standards and practices are being met including brand guidelines, clearance regulations and archive process.
Work closely with a Senior Editor to understand and implement best standards and practices.
With each project, work with a Senior Editor to formulate a plan of attack that clearly communicates expectations to our team as well as with other departments.
Manage a team of staff and/or freelance Editors, Junior Editors and/or Motion Graphics Editors through a project, ensuring that their time and costs are being tracked, deadlines are being met and high standard are maintained.
Oversee the review and approval process, flagging issues to the Post Production Supervisor, guaranteeing notes are properly implemented by our team, and expectations are managed with the client. Flag any issues that might impact progress or quality with the Senior Editor.
Mentor Junior Editors and Assistant Editors to help them develop their postproduction knowledge and skills, teaching them techniques that will help them hone their skills.
Organize workload, manage priorities, meet deadlines and work well within a fastpaced, multi-tasking environment.
Be a point person for third-party production companies to communicate, facilitate and ensure proper delivery and archive of content.
Quality check videos and deliverables that are created by our team to ensure all assets meet our high standards, appropriate specs and are ready for upload and archive.
Assemble footage into rough, fine and final cuts while maintaining professional web and broadcast standards.
Input music, dialogue, graphics, visual effects and sound to increase the quality of each video.
Provide professional color correction and sound support or guidance when needed to ensure that every video is polished.
Provide colorists and sound mixers with assets they need to finish a project. Receive final color grades and audio mixes and implement them back into the project for final delivery.
Receive and implement notes from producer, director, talent or other project stakeholders.
Work in an efficient and organized manner, ensuring all assets are clearly labeled and kept in their appropriate folders.
Track time daily to ensure post-production schedule is maintained.
Troubleshoot technical issues as required or report any technical issues to IT.
Understand, comply and hold all team members to current post-production processes, regulations, and guidelines.
Positive and professional attitudes are a must.
Basic Qualifications :
At least 7 years of prior post-production experience and 3 years of management experience within a digital or traditional media environment.
Expert in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop.
Ample post-production knowledge including motion graphics, sound mixing, keying and color correction.
Detailed technical knowledge of camera formats and video codecs.
Prior experience with managing teams, overseeing large projects and establishing workflows within a post-production environment.
Ability to remain calm and professional in high stress situations.
Proven track record of leadership and team development who can inspire, motivate, and influence colleagues.
A problem solver who can troubleshoot technical and editorial issues.
