Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Screens movies, music, video games, TV and online video content

Creates original copy and reviews, organizes facts, interview quotes, and other material into the most compelling form

Participates in editorial and design meetings

Develops story ideas for blogs that are consistent with their missions

Writes and creates content for Focus on the Family as required

Proofreads copy at various stages of development to ensure quality consistent with Focus on the Family standards and principles

Maintains currency with target audience through extensive reading, personal contact, and Internet research

Conducts first-hand research and maintains contact list

Coordinates content with other departments, as directed

May developand create a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., print, photography, film, music, visual arts, etc.) fordistribution in any and all media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, wireless, DVD, satellite anddigital) on a world-wide basis, all of which shall be for the benefit of Focus on the Family

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

Office environment

Travel up to 3 times per week within the region (day trip)

This role is considered a Spokesperson for Focus on the Family and should represent Focus’ position and tone at all times

Knowledge/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, or Communications

3 - 5 years successful writing or editing experience

Working knowledge of FOF mission, philosophy, values, and objectives
