Cell Press is seeking to appoint a new Editor for Cell Stem Cell. This challenging job represents a unique opportunity to shape the future of the leading journal in the field of stem cells. The new Editor will have and exercise a creative vision for Cell Stem Cell . He/she will continue to enhance the journal’s scientific influence and impact, and play a leading role in designing and implementing innovative publishing strategies, both in print and online.

Main responsibilities:

The Editor of Cell Stem Cell assumes overall responsibility for determining the journal’s scientific scope and editorial direction, as well as ensuring the quality of its cutting-edge research articles and editorials, as the leader of the overall editorial team. He/she will be expected to travel extensively to attend conferences, seminars, and scientific meetings, to build a broad network of domestic and international contacts. The Editor will also need to develop and foster partnerships with members of the production, marketing and advertising teams, and to contribute to the overall publishing strategy of Cell Stem Cell and Cell Press as a whole. The Editor of Cell Stem Cell will also liaise with the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) and foster relationships with the major stakeholders at the society.

Qualifications:

This position requires a strong research background and broad scientific interests. The minimum necessary qualification is a doctoral degree in a relevant area. Previous editorial and/or management experience is strongly required. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, and will demonstrate dedication to the scientific community, enthusiasm for communicating science to a broad readership, and the ability to be an effective leader for the editorial team.
