Position Overview

Grand View Media is in search of a editor to work within its Industrial Group. The editor will be responsible for executing the overall content production of the group’s Water Technology brand, including a bi-monthly print journal, website, e-newsletters, and social media, as well as supporting other brands within the group as needed. The editor will lead the production of print and digital content products, ensuring the highest quality content to effectively position the Water Technology brand within its competitive set. The editor will also serve as an advocate for the group at industry tradeshows and press events.

Responsibilities:

As editor, you will play a fundamental role in growing the Water Technology brand. You will help identify compelling sources for content, refine copy, and become an expert on the topics and markets we cover. You will work closely with Content, Creative and Production teams to ensure all content is clean, compelling, consistent, and aligns with content development and quality review processes. You will be a strong and effective advocate for our brands internally and externally. Candidates should have a strong acumen for managing print, web, email and social production workflows.

Specific roles and responsibilities include:

  • Acquire, review and revise content from various subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy, as well as adherence to AP and internal style guidelines.

  • Oversee the development and management of print, web, e-news, and social content calendars.

  • Refine content to maximize engagement on different platforms, including print, web, email and social.

  • Perform substantive editing to increase quality of documents in flow, readability and logical construction.

  • Serve as brand style expert; Help to maintain brand style guides and reference libraries.

  • Partner closely with the group’s Content, Creative, and Production team members to understand and execute project goals, and help define appropriate project timelines and workflows.

  • Serve as a lead content advocate at industry trade shows.

  • Provide leadership and a willingness to be a team player within the group.

Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in English, Journalism or Communications (or comparable professional experience).

  • 2-3 years of experience working in a content role for print magazines, websites, e-newsletters and/or social media.

  • 1+ year(s) of social media experience, specifically Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

Preferred:

  • Comfortability working with subject matter experts to develop material into content that resonates with target audiences in print, web, email and social scenarios.

  • Ability to comprehend analytics and adjust content strategies to play off of “what the data is telling you.”

  • Excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation skills and keen eye for detail.

  • Strong writing skills with an ability to craft content around complicated/technical topics.

  • Understanding of social media best practices, specifically Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

  • Understanding of HTML and web production via content management systems, especially WordPress.

  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and online analytics reporting.

  • Ability to follow a project from brief through to final publication.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, without sacrificing accuracy or quality.

  • Collaborative and positive can-do attitude and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to shift gears and refocus efforts in a dynamic and constantly evolving industry.

  • Experience covering engineering-related and/or highly technical topics and industries.

  • Proficiency in Adobe creative suites (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)
