Position Overview

Grand View Media is in search of an assistant editor to work within its Industrial Group. The assistant editor will be responsible for supporting a range of brands within the group, working on print journals, websites, e-newsletters and social media. The assistant editor will play a key role in helping the group’s content team maintain print, web, email, and social production workflows.

Responsibilities:

As assistant editor, you will work closely with Content, Creative and Production teams to ensure all content is clean, compelling, consistent, and aligns with content development and quality review processes. Working directly with brand lead editors, you will help the group execute on content strategies aimed at driving continuous quality improvement and maximizing the reach of the Industrial Group’s brands in print, web email and social media.

Specific tasks include:

  • Working with brand lead editors to develop social media content and manage social schedules and calendars.

  • Editing content for subject matter, flow, consistency, tone, audience and accuracy.

  • Copy editing for grammar, spelling, AP style, punctuation, SEO keywords and formatting.

  • Performing content quality assurance (QA) to ensure top-quality, error-free work.

  • Working directly with brand lead editors and creative and production team members to maintain production workflows.

  • Candidates must have top-notch editing skills, encompassing copy editing and content/structural editing, and have an understanding of SEO. Beyond the primary responsibilities noted above, the assistant editor may also be called upon to help out with editing/developing content, including online exclusives, blog posts, slideshows, podcasts, data-driven infographics, webinars, etc.

Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or English

  • 1+ year(s) experience in B2B publishing — online publications and print

  • 1+ year(s) experience with AP Style

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with layout programs such as Adobe InDesign

  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Basic understanding of HTML and web production via content management systems, especially WordPress.

  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and online analytics reporting

  • Familiarity with website management and WordPress

  • Extremely strong organizational skills; detail-oriented personality

  • Dedication to hitting firm deadlines

  • Strong proofreading and copy editing skills
