PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Institutional Defined Contribution (DC)/Retirement Senior Editor on the Retirement & Financial Education team is responsible for researching and writing high-quality thought leadership content on retirement and investment topics in a variety of formats (e.g. white papers, client presentations, conference/webinar presentations). The incumbent should have the ability to produce insightful and actionable DC/retirement content for institutional investors. The position will work closely with the DC/retirement product service manager, DC specialists, ERISA/regulatory specialists, portfolio analysis groups, investment analysis, portfolio management, RFE editorial and investment editorial to provide value-added, differentiated, and actionable insights for clients and prospects. The individual will also manage projects to ensure consistent positioning of T. Rowe Price’s views and investment management capabilities.

The associate in this role brings should have prior experience writing about retirement and investment topics for institutional investors.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the institutional DC/retirement content plan by researching and writing on a broad range of topics for institutional investors. Develop insights, perspectives, and thought leadership materials on retirement and investments that support T. Rowe Price’s brand and ongoing dialogue with clients and prospects; manage projects to ensure the delivery of content to the business units, incorporating editorial feedback from multiple sources where appropriate; and work with other subject matter experts to ensure the integrity of the content. Key outputs may include the following:

  • Thematic topic papers that reflect T. Rowe Price points of view and research on retirement and investments. These papers will serve as source content for a broad range of client meetings, events, marketing and PR content.

  • Client presentations that inform clients and prospects on the burgeoning issues related to retirement and investments and that reflect T. Rowe Price’s research and points of view.

  • Edited commentary developed by DC specialist, investment analysts, legal/regulatory experts and subject matter experts intended for another audience or medium, applying quality standards and verifying that the content meets stated requirements for an institutional audience, including:

    - Collateral that addresses portfolio construction and other customized investment solutions - Support for presentation materials, institutional websites, e-newsletters, regular client forums - Marketing brochures and other sales collateral to augment prospecting.
  • Research using data and other information sources, both internally and externally, to obtain necessary proof points and documentation supporting key arguments.

  • Work with business partners in distribution units serving different institutional clients to understand business strategies and priorities. The incumbent will work with these partners as well as other members of the RFE team to understand the content strategy and roadmap that addresses business priorities.

  • Maintain a high level of familiarity with external industry and academic developments as it relates to topic(s) as well as internal expertise by regularly interacting with subject-matter experts, sales and marketing executives as well as client-facing teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred

+ Advanced business degree, CFA or other financial accreditation

+ Substantial experience in a writing/editing position in the financial services sector

  • Experience writing/editing for an institutional investment manager or investment consulting firm

Required

  • High-quality, experienced writer/editor comfortable working in different mediums, including print and presentation

  • Experience writing about DC/retirement, multi-asset strategies and capital markets

  • Mastery of DC/retirement and investment concepts

  • Ability to write about complex concepts in an interesting and engaging style

  • Able to perform basic quantitative analysis

  • Demonstrated writing versatility

  • Strong understanding of the institutional investor market

  • Deadline driven and strong project management ability; able to handle multiple projects at the same time

  • Experience building strong relationships with subject matter experts, legal, and internal clients, including marketing and sales

  • College degree and 4 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 6 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 8 years related work experience
