Producer/Editor - Preditor

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Minimum 4 years editing for a TV Production or in a large market/network level newsroom. The Preditor is an experienced, knowledgeable and well-versed non-linear editor with a honed craft of video editing, writing and producing in a fast paced Sports Broadcast atmosphere. The Preditor is expected to be a leader, mentor and collaborator amongst various teams while operating at an advanced level. The ability to both work independently and collaborate between departments on key show elements is a must. The candidate should be able to work nights, weekends and holidays. Flexibility to alter shifts/days off to accommodate projects and departmental objectives.

  • Demonstrates leadership & advanced operating skills which may include: high profile non-linear video editing and graphic creation, media management, broadcast routers, archival media restore and ingest systems, After Effects, Photoshop, Final Cut, audio mixing, & writing scripts for pieces.

  • Demonstrates an advanced understanding of signal measurement and procedures Conducts advanced levels of quality control and corrective action to enhance product

  • Expected to fully comprehend applicable SOPs and subsequent workflows for assigned areas These roles consist of multiple disciplines of operational proficiency and assignments which may include: media Ingest/, non-linear editing, content enhancement techniques, as well as media management skills

  • Participate in and support the creative development and production of key show elements.

  • Write and produce assigned teases, features and cover stories.

  • Must have an advanced understanding of plant communications systems.

  • Advanced knowledge of specific workflows for identifying and resolving operational errors and equipment failure.

  • Has an advanced, working knowledge of broadcast programming, server operation and signal flow in assigned areas.

  • Expected to file reports, as necessary, on specific working conditions, equipment status, and personal development at the request of management.

  • Required to complete training follow-up documentation and administrative functions such as time entry and expense filing.

  • Expected to continually develop knowledge and operational skills to enhance daily contributions within your role.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 4 years editing for a TV production or newsroom in a large market or network level.

  • Bilingual (written and spoken) in both English and Spanish

  • Experience with Final Cut Pro/Avid software

  • Ability to work in a fast paced operations room that requires quick turnaround edits with an emphasis on independently creating, writing and producing key show elements.

  • Proficiency in all TV Production equipment and technology within assigned operating areas, including: non-linear edit systems, broadcast routers, media management process and applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform tasks under tight deadlines, work independently and manage simultaneous projects

  • Flexibility to alter shifts/days off to accommodate projects and departmental objectives.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Embraces new technology and workflows

  • Expected to identify problems and recommend solutions

  • Keep abreast of technology and workflows to create accurate and efficient results in specific assignments or future plans

  • Assigned to operational roles and expected to report on system status for specific area

  • Complies fully with company and/or departmental stated policies. May support the updating of SOPs for area

  • Demonstrates sound communication with timely follow up analysis or problem solving with regard to operational areas or systems

  • Expected to interact productively with counterparts in Operations and closely related support departments

  • Communicates regularly with direct Supervisor and/or Manager in compliance with departmental guidelines

  • Regularly document progress of goals and objectives online within the Performance Management system

  • Provides quality service in assigned area to all customers, as defined and assigned by management

  • Expected to provide mentoring to other staff and/or peers. Documents and reports on any status changes operationally, personally or administratively PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Candidates must have good computer background (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc...) and solid communication skills.

  • Understanding of Production workflows, proven writing and producing skills, and demonstrated ability to deliver on established themes and styles as required.

  • Ability to participate in generating new story ideas and execute the work, often under tight deadlines SKILLS, EDUCATION AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications, Studio Production, Business, Journalism, or related field
