CNA Copy Editor in Arlington, Virginia

Primary Purpose:

Copy edit, format, and proofread formal research reports and other technical documents to ensure overall accuracy.

Duties and/or Responsibilities:

1 Review, edit, and proofread final reports to ensure accuracy and consistency prior to publication.

2 Fix errors in grammar, punctuation, mechanics, and spelling.

3 Review graphics for completeness and clarity.

4 Check images for copyright clearance.

5 Proofread correspondence, flyers, brochures, surveys, proposals, PowerPoint briefs, and other publications.

6 Follow standards of quality and style directed by CNA and its sponsors.

7 Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

1 Education: Bachelor’s degree preferably in English, journalism, technical writing, communications or a related field.

2 Experience: Must have minimum 2 years of experience editing and proofreading in a professional or academic environment, preferably working on research or technical material.

3 Skills: Extreme attention to detail, flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines, effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, ability to work both independently and as part of a team; Familiarity with editing features of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro required; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Adobe InDesign preferred. Ability to work with highly technical, quantitative data; ability to understand complex, analytical research material.

4 Other: Must be able to secure and hold a secret clearance. Active clearance upon hire preferred.
